ST. CHARLES, Ill. (Dec. 5, 2011) – Cooper Hong Inc., or CHI, a marketing communications and public relations firm based in St. Charles, Ill., earned a Silver Quill Award of Merit in the 2011 Silver Quill competition sponsored by the International Association of Business Communicators. CHI earned the award in Special Events-Internal or External category for its work on the Case Construction Equipment N Series loader/backhoe product launch. The annual, regional competition for IABC’s Pacific Plains Region spans 19 states, from Illinois to Hawaii.

CHI’s winning special event targeted construction industry trade media and their audiences with an emphatic reassertion of the Case brand’s category leadership in loader/backhoes, while creating awareness of, and a preference for, the new machines.

“It’s gratifying to know that our work with Case has once again earned recognition and praise from our peers in communication,” said Jane Cooper, president, Cooper Hong Inc. “Winning a Silver Quill Award of Merit for planning and executing a successful event for our clients is a great honor, and we’re even more excited that it delivered measurable results for our client.”

For a day-and-a-half, 26 writers and editors left their cubes and keyboards behind for the quiet and beauty of the Case Customer Center in Wisconsin’s North Woods. They were treated to a history of the loader/backhoe told with pyrotechnics, product demonstrations that showcased the benchmark-setting performance features of the new machines, and hands-on operating time. The editors also had the chance to meet with a contractor from the original group of product testers who helped define the final features Case engineers applied to the N Series loader/backhoes.

Within a few weeks after the event, stories, images and video hit dozens of print and online media outlets, reaching by the most conservative estimates more than 1 million viewers/readers.

The 2011 Silver Quill Award entries were evaluated by a panel of experienced judges from the IABC Houston chapter, many of whom are Accredited Business Communicators or past IABC Quill Award winners.

Silver Quill Awards are presented annually by IABC within a large geographic region to recognize excellence in communication. As in previous years, the judges who reviewed entries for the 2009 IABC Pacific Plains Region Silver Quill competition were all seasoned business communicators from chapters in multiple states.
