Challenge

ECHO Incorporated is known for its professional-grade, high-performance hand-held outdoor power equipment for commercial and residential use. Following a recent merger with Shindaiwa, a strong brand in the outdoor power equipment industry for more than 25 years, ECHO consolidated distribution of Shindaiwa products for North America and Latin America by adding a new 129,000-square-foot warehouse to their headquarters in the Chicago suburb of Lake Zurich, Ill. To celebrate the company’s expansion and increase visibility for the ECHO and Shindaiwa brands in North America, the company scheduled a ribbon-cutting ceremony that included lunch and a brief tour of the new warehouse.

Solution

ECHO retained CHI to prepare and deliver targeted pitches to a variety of local news and industry trade media from the greater Chicago area. The media were invited to attend the ribbon-cutting ceremony and meet one-on-one with ECHO executives and subject matter experts. CHI also prepared press materials for the media, including photography. Joining in the ribbon-cutting ceremony were ECHO dealers, employees, vendors, Lake Zurich city officials and other special guests. The celebration was preceded by special remarks from Dan Obringer, president of ECHO, and Suzanne Branding, mayor of the Village of Lake Zurich.

Results

The ribbon-cutting ceremony received widespread coverage from local news and industry trade publications, well exceeding client expectations.
